Kyocera Education Case Study


THE BACKGROUND

This Georgia school system is comprised of six schools (grades elementary through high school).  Staffed with 266 faculty members, it supports 4,300 students.  The school system was a long-time competitor customer.

THE CHALLENGE

The customer had numerous issues that were not being addressed by the competitor, including billing issues, incorrect meters, timely invoices, and service concerns with their aging fleet and reached out to an authorized Kyocera dealer to discuss possible solutions.  The dealer and Kyocera Business Solution Consultant (BSC) scheduled a Lunch & Learn with 12 customer representatives to find out more information and showcase Kyocera’s technology.  The Lunch & Learn not only went into detail about their initial concerns, but also disclosed other major concerns felt by the district.  It was disclosed that the school system had recently deployed Chromebooks to the faculty, and they were having struggles with the Chromebooks printing to the competitor’s MFPs.  And, only one MFP was set up for scanning.  By the conclusion of the Lunch and Learn, the district realized that the competitor had not kept them apprised of new technologies available to eliminate their difficulties.

THE SOLUTION

Firstly, the district needed a vendor that could effectively bill them each month.  The dealership uses Kyocera Fleet Services (KFS) to manage their customers’ devices in conjunction with e-Automate, so timely and accurate invoices would be no issue.  With regard to their Chromebook challenges, the dealership and BSC showed Kyocera’s Google Readiness with Cloud printing, together with Kyocera’s Google Connector application.  It was demonstrated to the customer how easily scanning could be set up and supported, using Kyocera’s HyPAS solution, PinPoint Scan3.  And, a sample test was given to the 12 attendees of the Lunch and Learn, which was graded using Kyocera’s HyPAS solution Teaching Assistant, further demonstrating another option available to the district. 

THE RESULTS/BENEFITS

Kyocera’s HyPAS solutions -- Teaching Assistant (5 total) and PinPoint Scan 3 (12 total) -- were purchased and installed, together with (20) A3 and (20) A4 MFPs.  Kyocera’s Technical Department assisted with the delivery and setup.  Sales participated in the key-op training on the devices, and the BSC performed the solutions training.


The customer was impressed with Kyocera’s “hands-on” approach to their business needs, as well as the options offered to them to eliminate their business pains.  More importantly, they were fully confident that Kyocera would have the ability and the professionalism needed to support them.  The monthly invoicing has been flawless, the district is now able to use their Chromebooks for printing, and by using Teaching Assistant, the school staff can administer and grade tests faster and with greater accuracy.
